Local New Orleans Breweries are on the Rise!

If you haven’t noticed, over the last few years, New Orleans has seen a boom in local breweries. Nola Brewing Company, The Courtyard Brewery, and Urban South Brewery showcase some of the city’s best ales, lagers, porters, and pilsners. These destinations are great for tours for any beer connoisseur looking to pull back the curtain and see where the magic is made.

NOLA Brewing Company

You’ll find this great brewery just a hop, skip, and jump away from Downtown New Orleans on Tchoupitoulas Street. NOLA Brewing Company was a pioneer in the New Orleans brewery scene and has become one of the largest. They offer some of the most popular seasonal beers in the South and are known for their creative taps and cans. You can find these offerings in almost any bar or restaurant in New Orleans, but the best way to experience NOLA beer is at the brewery itself. Tours are given every Friday from 2-3pm and between 2-4pm every Saturday and Sunday. This location also features a two-story bar aptly named The Tap Room. Here you’ll find the widest selection of NOLA beers available and even have the opportunity to sample some exclusive options. The Tap Room is open all week long from 11am – 11pm and also offers a great food from McClure’s BBQ. www.nolabrewing.com

The Courtyard Brewery

For a truly eclectic New Orleans experience, check out The Courtyard Brewery. Open daily, this quant brewery has made quite a name for itself in the New Orleans beer scene. What Courtyard lacks in size, it makes up for in amazing beer offerings. Let their staff be your spirit guide through samplings of house made ales, IPAs, porters, stouts, and even sour beers. They also have a daily rotation of local food trucks popping up for you to enjoy. www.courtyardbrewing.com

Urban South Brewery

Newest on the scene is Urban South Brewery and they are on a mission to help put our city back on the map as a destination for great local beer. Here, free tours are given Thursday – Monday. Their taproom is kid-friendly and offers up some creative takes on traditional beer offerings. Food trucks are always stopping by, but if you want a true New Orleans experience, be sure to check their website and find out when they’re having one of their weekly crawfish boils. Nothing says New Orleans more than beer and crawfish. www.urbansouthbrewery.com
